Volunteer Opportunities

How would you like to spend your volunteer time on a bicycle? Or teaching a person with a disability to change a flat tire? Maybe you always wanted to learn how to "captain" a tandem. If any of this sounds fun, PEAC may be the perfect place to volunteer! If you are a spandex wearing, carbon-fiber bike racer or a casual neighborhood cyclist, we need you! Not a rider at all? We still have a place for your talents!
- Companion Cyclist
- Our program has cyclists of all ability levels, and we need cyclists to ride with them. If you know basic
road rules of cycling, or wish to learn them, and ride a bike while wearing a helmet, we need you! We need
volunteers to ride with our participants. We will match you with a participant with similar riding styles. Many
of our participants have excellent skills, but still need somebody to ride with them to make sure they don't get
lost or to help in a critical decision. This is a great way to get some exercise and serve your community.
- Mechanic
- Do you have mechanical skills? Do you like working on bicycles? We have a fleet of 150 bicycles and tricycles
that always need tuning up and repairs. If you have an interest in helping out, please let us know.
- Celebration of Cycling
- The Celebration of Cycling takes over 100 volunteers on September 17th, 2005, and also takes a great deal of
preparation work. We need homemade cookies, companion cyclists, food stop workers, SAG drivers, ham radio operators,
registration workers, and others. If you aren't planning on riding, please call us to find out how you can volunteer!
- Tandem Captains
- Ever wanted to be on the front of a tandem? Learn the skills necessary to ride in tandem and help individuals
with visual impairments and other disabilities get out and ride. This is a great way to expand your social circle,
get exercise, and help out!
- Special Skill
- Do you have skills we haven't listed here? We need technical expertise with computing, PR, fundraising,
and other. If you have a skill that you think could benefit our program, please let us know.
