John Waterman is the Founder and Executive Director of  PEAC. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Eastern Michigan University, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Research, Assessment, and Evaluation from Western Michigan University. He has been working with individuals with disabilities for over thirty years. In 2002, John received the Boggs-Mitchell Award. This national award recognizes individuals and community organizations that provide year-round, challenging and inclusive recreational programs for people with disabilities. In 2008 he was named the Bicycle Educator of the Year by the League of Michigan Bicyclists. In 2009, John co-authored a white paper on including individuals with disabilities into the Safe Routes to School movement. John is currently the chairperson of the Seniors and ADA Committee of the Citizens Advisory Council of Southeast Michigan’s Regional Transit Authority, and is on the non-motorized technical advisory committee for the Washtenaw Area Transportation Study.

Beth comes to PEAC from Detroit Public Schools after 32 years teaching and being the Area Director of Special Olympics Detroit.  She has a bachelors degree in Physical Education and a masters degree in Special Education.  Beth enjoys travel training with students and having discussions about the challenges and successes of students when using transit.  Student growth and independence is our goal in the Active Transportation Program.

Joe is a recent graduate from the University of Michigan, and is excited to join the PEAC Family! During school, he was heavily involved with Dance Marathon, a student-run non-profit raising money for Mott & Beaumont Children’s Hospitals. This experience led him to PEAC, where he worked as an intern before taking on the role of Director of Summer Programs.

Micah is a graduate of Western Michigan University and the Haworth College of Business.  After receiving his degree in Business Marketing, Micah worked in the wireless communications world from 2013-2016.  His passion for making a difference and working to better his community has brought him to PEAC.  He is excited to work with the staff and community to help grow and promote the mission of PEAC.
