Frequently Asked Questions

How do I stay up to date with PEAC?

Follow us on Facebook and join our newsletter!

Can my child ride a bike?

We are so big on everyone riding that it’s even our motto ‘Everyone can ride’, but the riding may look different for everyone. Yes, your child can ride a bike, but it may be one of the many adaptive bikes in the world. We have assessments and bike fitting for any individuals interested in adaptive bikes. If you have any specific questions, please reach out to Madison Prinzing at madison@bikeprogram.org

Where can I try adaptive cycling equipment?

We partnered with the Detroit bike share MoGo to create Adaptive MoGo, a bike share system with adaptive equipment. You can ride along the riverfront on a tricycle, recumbent tricycle, recumbent tandem, hand-cycle, side-by-side, cargo tricycle, and tandem. Learn more about Adaptive MoGo.

You can also sign up for an assessment with us to try various equipment.

Do you give bikes away?

In order to run our programs, we do not give any equipment away. If you’re looking for adaptive equipment, we realize that it can be expensive. We’ve put together this list of potential funding sources if you’re interested in owning an adaptive bike.

We also post up any sales of equipment from us or from an alumni of the program, so make sure to keep in touch by subscribing to our newsletter!

Can I donate a bike to PEAC?

Yes! We accept all kinds of bicycles old or new. Our mechanics staff and students repair bikes for programs and sales, take apart bikes for education and parts, and work to increase biking throughout Southeast Michigan. Email info@bikeprogram.org to let us know you want to donate.
